Building Better Communities
One of the fundamental business practices of Saturn of Kamloops is to give back to the community in which we live. Over the years we have helped assist several organizations including:
- The Royal Inland Hospital Foundation
- The Canadian Cancer Society
- Kamloops Wildlife Park
- Backpack for Kids Program
- Kamloops Blazers Scholarship Foundation
- Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops
One of our biggest fundraising initiatives started in 2002 with the Saturn Turtle River Race. Since 1997 we helped, with other partners, develop playground opportunities in the Kamloops area.
Between 1997 and 2001 we helped create a playground in the Northwest corner of Riverside Park, donated funds for the playground initiative at McDonald Park on the North shore, and donated funds in order for St. Ann’s Academy to install a new outdoor basketball court. However, we realized the need to raise additional funds to support ongoing children’s projects in the city.
Every summer Saturn races 4000 plastic turtle down the South Thompson River. Each turtle is “adopted” for a cost of $10 with the hopes of raising $20,000 for charity. In return if your turtle wins the race you receive some great prizes. This year we will host the 6th annual Saturn Turtle River Race.
